FAQ
Q: Do I need to hire an operator or technician?
A: While it is not necessary, it is recommended. Shooting underwater requires experience. Not only for the environment that you are shooting in, but also in dealing with equipment that has the potential to get damaged do to the environment. Experienced crew know what to look for and how to manage camera gear in wet environments. They know how to prepare the splashbag so that the camera does not damage it or cause a failure & to look for possible water entry points. Our operators have years of experience with splashbags and housings of every type. This experience in the long run can save you valuable production time and costs. If you chose to operate it yourself, please provide yourself plenty of time to familiarize yourself with it, as well as testing it to insure that everything works and seals properly.
Q: How deep can the ASL Splash Bag be submerged?
A: While the splashbags are watertight, We always suggest and recommend a hard-case housing anytime submerging more than just below the surface of the water.
Q: Can a wireless follow focus and/or video transmitter be used?
A: Maybe, but it probably might not work through water; only at or above the water level. We cannot say for sure if any particular system will work properly or at all.
Q: How do I get the ASL Splash Bag to submerge more?
A: Opening the air purge valve while gently submerging the splashbag just until the valve reaches water level then close it. You can also carefully add some weight to the inside of the bag if necessary: ex. a dive belt weight wrapped in a soft towel.
